Subsidies
What subsidies are available for a heat pump in Aargau?
According to the energy subsidy programme of the canton of Aargau (as of 05/2026), replacing an oil, gas or electric heating system with an air-to-water heat pump up to 70 kW is subsidised with CHF 3,000 plus CHF 60 per kWth, and with a brine-to-water or water-to-water heat pump up to 70 kW with CHF 6,000 plus CHF 180 per kWth. The CHF 350 fee for the heat pump system module (WPSM, up to approx. 15 kW) is refunded with the subsidy.
The application must be submitted before construction starts, the old heating must be removed, and restrictions apply in district-heating areas. Whether a heat pump water heater qualifies for a contribution from the municipality or the energy supplier is checked case by case.
