Rules and subsidies in the canton of Lucerne
In the canton of Lucerne, replacing a heating system must be notified: the notification is made at least 20 days before construction starts via energiemeldungen.lu.ch. In residential buildings, at most 90% of the heat demand may be covered by non-renewable energy after the replacement, demonstrated e.g. through a standard solution (Canton of Lucerne – KEnG summary).
New fixed electric heating is prohibited. Central electric heating with a water distribution system must be replaced by 2034; individual decentralised electric heaters may be replaced (Canton of Lucerne – KEnG summary).
The canton of Lucerne subsidises heat pumps that replace an oil, gas or electric heating system – air/water heat pumps up to 15 kW with CHF 4,000. The application must be submitted before construction starts and does not replace the notification of the heating replacement (Canton of Lucerne – heat pump subsidies). In 2026 there is also a bonus for replacing decentralised electric heating (Canton of Lucerne – subsidy programmes).

Do I have to replace my electric heating in the canton of Lucerne?
In the canton of Lucerne, central electric heating with a water distribution system must be replaced by 2034. Individual decentralised electric heaters may be replaced; new electric heating is prohibited. Subsidies are available for switching to a heat pump.
Do you also maintain systems from other manufacturers?
Yes, we maintain and repair air conditioning systems and heat pumps of all common brands – even if we did not install them.
